Have you ever attempted to do something but find yourself plagued with self-doubt about your abilities to the point where you find yourself unable to even start?  If so, you’re not alone.  One of the biggest problems facing individuals is trying to deal with the doubt that their skills are not sufficient for or are unequal to the task at hand.  This may be born of past failures or listening to people who do not believe that you are able to complete whatever is necessary.

If you have had experience in whatever area you are attempting your endeavor, try and take an objective assessment of what you are able to accomplish based on past experience.  Be proud of what you are able to accomplish and disregard the pains of those who may not view your skills in a positive light.

Concentrate on these positive attributes and remind yourself that with a little careful work you can achieve your goals.  Repeat this to yourself as a sort of mantra each time that you are plagued with doubt that you can complete a task.  Next, imagine yourself completing whatever you have to do or make successfully using whatever you already know.

If you believe that there are still skills you might need to acquire, concentrate all the positive energy of your mind power on taking the steps necessary to acquire the knowledge you need.  This could be in the form of taking formalized classes, practicing what you know, or apprenticing yourself to someone who can pass on the skills that you might be lacking.

Visualize the successful acquisition of necessary knowledge to help you successfully complete whatever task you might find that you need to do.  Again, visualize the successful completion of your project, incorporating the new knowledge to better help you.

It’s very easy to doubt yourself to the point that you become paralyzed with fear and find that you cannot complete a task because you have no confidence in your skills, whatsoever.  Another component of this is the fear that you might fail.

Some people are so intimidated that they don’t even start the in the first place, because if they don’t start, then they can’t fail.  In this instance it is necessary to marshal all your mental faculties keep reminding yourself that even in failure or a positive consequences because you can learn from what goes wrong.

By changing your mindset to focus on the positive, you will be able to banish self-doubt with each new task you try.
